conducted at the Arlington Center, where

16 members of Local 429 attended the first

ECOSPAN training in Texas. ECOSPAN is an

engineered composite building system using

prefabricated wall panels with metal studs,

bar joists, and corrugated metal decking. The

components are not unique, but the way they

are assembled in the composite system is.

This assembly results in a strong, lightweight

system that is designed for speed and quality.

Except for the concrete placement, all of the

work of building the structure is performed

by carpenters.

Charles Wright, an engineer with Odom

Construction Co. conducted the classroom

portion of the training. He explained how the

composite system works, and stressed the

importance of assembling the components

correctly. The students watched an

ECOSPAN training video.

COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE JERRY CARRERO,

an interior systems specialist, spent several weeks
conducting on-the-job training for Odom Construction
Co. in Frisco, TX. He taught the Ecospan System,
which is currently only being used by Odom
Construction. Once proper installation techniques are
learned and implemented
on the jobsite, they greatly
increase productivity. The
7-story, 132-room HYATT
House was constructed by
11 workers.

The cuts caused severe financial hardship to our disabled class members, Defendants (Carpenters Pension Trust Fund - Detroit & Vicinity Pension Plan)fought us tooth and nail for over three years–indeed, even after the federal district court twice ruled that the cuts were illegal. Patrick took the reigns as CEO at Jobsite Steel Manufacturing , LLC in October 2015. Patrick graduated for the United States Naval Academy in 1990 and began his professional endeavors as a Naval Officer serving in USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) as the Assistant Combat Information Center Officer and the Main Propulsion Assistant. In 1994, Patrick resigned his commission and joined the research and development team at Knudson Mfg where he worked in roll forming machinery design and development for ten years. He graduated to the General Manager’s post in 2004.

Patrick joined Jobsite Steel Manufacturing in 2011 when he and and Danny Odom began developing groundbreaking framing solutions that currently define Jobsite Steel. Back in the research and development saddle, Patrick cultivated the roll forming fabrication systems, CAD software integration, and mechanical assembly systems used in the manufacturing efforts today.
