The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC) congratulates Tom Flynn, who has been appointed to the position of Second General Vice President of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). His appointment became effective April 1 and was announced by UBC General President Doug McCarron. Flynn succeeds Brother David Tharp, who has retired.
“Tom is a tremendous talent and a gifted union leader,” said NASRCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joe Byrne. “We’re incredibly proud to call him our Brother and congratulate him on his continued advancement in the leadership of our union.”
A native of Dorchester and a member of Boston Carpenters Local 327, Flynn has been the General Secretary-Treasurer of the UBC since 2020. Prior to that he served as the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the NASRCC, UBC Political Director and in various leadership and political roles on the local union and regional council level.
General President McCarron has appointed Mark McGriff to the position of General Secretary Treasurer.

In jersey they are dipping into other funds to pay reps... Have been for over a year.. they are relying on govt cheese woke monies... Thats short sighted as your core membership is out doing other work..

There are soooo many members being forced to seek employment in other venues.
With the council reps allowing a 9 apprentice to 1 foreman and maybe a couple pre apprentices on jobs...relying on the govt federal dollars that are programs like work 360 and even our own school teaching pre ( non sworn) ppl to do our trade at 1/ 3 of the rate and no benes to them but stipends to the union.
The reps answer... " There is nothing we can do" which means it comes from on high.
There is way more.

Hasn’t every drop out of the Rep discussion been wrung dry? They’re all neutered seat filler. Whether its the reps that survived the purge and were reconditioned or the newly appointed ones, they are completely useless! Why, because 7 yrs ago they lost the tool that made them successful. They lost the rank and file men and women that believed in this organization! We walked different routes from our truck to the jobsite scanning the area for non union. Who hasn’t walked through loading dock areas, peaked in windows, rode the elevator onto floors where work might be happening or just walked straight onto a jobsite asking if they we’re hiring just to get information. Lets not forget the emergency picket lines that popped from our calls. That was all made possible by the men and women who carried this Organization to the heights it reached before the Organization smashed into the iceberg. The Reps lost that tool a long time ago and it shows every jobs report.

Until something happens to the UBC whether by law enforcement or by the members filing a lawsuit nothing is going to change for the better.
My advice is to be as kind as you can to one another, and make the best of this train wreck. Anything else is a waste of energy and time.
