We would be better off getting lawyers to initiate a law suit to crush the cba and have pension contributions directly paid to the carpenters own designated account.
Not only that. Contractors can now opt out easily.

I could not agree more!! If your in any line of business aren’t you supposed to grow that business if that’s what your truly committed too? If you take proactive steps to cause harm to your business then can any there be any other conclusion drawn that your actually working to destroy the business, in or case the UBC??
As you correctly pointed out, a variable rate pension that eliminates the early withdrawal penalty creates an opportunity to decrease the viability of this business so why would you do it?? To destroy the UBC.
Why would you allow signatory GC’s the ability to sublet covered work to non-signatory subcontractors??? To destroy the UBC.
Why would you promote the creation of a 2nd class, under paid member, aka a Provisional Carpenter, that undercuts your existing members? To destroy the UBC.
The Provisional Carpenter Program is already part of the EAS Council Bylaws and most Agreements. The non-signatory subcontracting language is now a part of multiple UBC Agreements across the country.
It was already verified on this site that contractors in NYC are laying off their full rate journeyman to be replaced by provisional members. Will the provisional members be paid the full fringe package that includes pension contributions?? Nope!! Another blow to the Pension Fund.
McCarron and his changes represent a multi-pronged internal attack on the UBC, as we know it.
YOU RETIREES ARE GOING TO GET HAMMERED WITH THE REST OF US AVTIVE MEMBERS!!!! You can all get in the fight because since your allowed to work a certain amount of time you therefore have the same standing we active members have to challenge anything. You have no excuse to sit on the sideline!!
