As far as I’m concerned, the UBC as it has been structured by McCarron and Co., is not sustainable. There are too many fundamental internal and external problems that are extremely unlikely to be resolved to the benefit of the member. It’s 2020, not 1996, thanks to Doug and Co. the UBC has LOST 95% of the market share had before he was elected President, so we don’t have 15 years to stop the bleeding and or actually grow, that time has expired. The legal consequences that will most likely land on Doug and Co will also not benefit us as they have not benefited the members in NYC. I believe based on all that we know (What we don’t know is not likely to be good news either) )and what has happened that the UBC died as a Union a long time ago, what we see before us is a Zombie Union that is eating what’s left of the old UBC.
My only plan at this point is to do what I can to help my fellow members, stay safe, make the best of any opportunity that comes my way, and of course, watch this Zombie Union explode.

Carpenters!!! We are imploding in the philadelphia region.
We were used as the ATM for 5 states.
We saw the " jersey style " leadership come in ... Knowing it was a failed business model... But we watched and knew it wouldnt work and here we are.
We have lost over 1 million man hours between PES and the CC combined.
The market share has dramatically decreased by having a Mike Hand and JR hocker leadership locally.
2 of the most non confrontational people in the organization are at the helm and are letting work go by the excuse of " we are being contractor friendly" , and being okay with that.
It is unacceptable.
Our market is flooded with new jersey, delaware, and maryland carpenters... Mixed in with lehigh valley and further.
They have flocked here bc this is where what little work is left.
Effectively putting local carpenters out on the street.
Local contractors have zeroooo pressure or allegience to the very membership that made them and built them up to where they are today.
